Jackrabbit Relay Team Edges Rattlers in Regional Photo Finish

CALICHE TRACK COMPLEX— The boys’ 4×100 relay final at regionals delivered the kind of finish that makes timers double-check their thumbs. Caliche’s anchor, junior Jessie Jackrabbit, leaned at the line beside Ironwood’s Victor Rattler; both teams broke the school record; one plaque will need extra engraving.

Official timing: 42.28 to 42.29—difference thinner than a mesquite leaf. Meet referee Ms. Ibis reviewed chip data and finish-line imagery while coaches practiced breathing exercises borrowed from yoga night school.

The girls’ sprint medley earlier saw Mesquite JC set a conference mark; long jump pit yielded three personal bests and one lost flip-flop, recovered by a volunteer possum with a grabber tool. State meet seeds are set; bus reservations are allegedly “handled.”
